The people over at Quad Software have just released the new Grome 1.2 upgrade for the professional & standard edition. Boasting a hefty range of new features, improvements & bug fixes.

Additions:
1. Massive speed improvements (up to 10 times faster) due to internal optimizations at various tools: fractal tools (mountains, dunes, hills, fractal noise), shadowmap generation.
2. Added a new tools: fractal hills, mountains, dunes and noise brushes.
3. Introduced new Grome scripting language to automate tasks.
4. Added a new exporter for large data sets. Can save 16bit raw, png and jpg images for terrain geometry, masks and color layers with user defined sampling steps.
5. Added user customizable orientation shortcuts for all brushes.
Fixed issues:
1. Fixed table issues for latest Wacom drivers
2. Fixed a bug which occurred in ColorLayers properties windows when selecting / deselecting zones. When the group (material) properties window was expanded in the Selection Tab and a zone was being selected / deselected, the window didn't update properly if the zone had the layer assigned to it.
3. Fixed a bug which occurred when performing the Fill Selection command from Color Layers Menu from the Project Tab. If the Color Layer had multiple materials, the first material from the list was being applied to the selected zones and not the one specified by the user.
4. Fixed a critical bug which could potentially crash the application when painting texture layers (with ColorBrush/MaskBrush). The brush area didn't compute properly when the brush position was close to terrain zone edges, leading to potential boundary overflows.
5. Fixed various dialog layouts to properly appear under large or non standard dialog fonts
6. Fixed a bug which occurred when working with multiple distribution masks from the ColorGenerator / MaskGenerator tool, each one assigned to different color layers. The bug manifested as a prolonged application stall while changing the current selection set while keeping the tool active with the conditions described above.
7. Fixed a bug which occurred when working with the MaskFilters tool on a zone selection set from a bigger cluster of neighbor zones. The application crashed when attempting to use the BLUR filter on the layers.
8. Console not showing at errors for startup scenes fixed.
9. Startup viewport position is now matching the normal texture orientation (looking on positive Z)
10. COLLADA storage plugin: fixed an issue that caused images not to be found if located in the same folder as the objects
